This page explains how the broker comparisons, fee tables, and “best for” verdicts on ActiveTrading.club are built — what data we collect, how it is verified, what our calculations assume, and where the limits are.

The Data Behind the Comparisons

Every broker and exchange we cover is maintained in a structured dataset that powers both our comparison tables and the interactive Broker Fee Calculator. For each provider we track:

  • Commission schedules by asset class — per-trade, per-contract, or percentage fees across stocks, equity and index options, standard and micro futures, and spot or derivative crypto, including volume tiers, per-leg caps, and close waivers.
  • Verification date (lastVerified) — the exact date the schedule was last checked against the broker’s official pricing page.
  • Primary source URL — the official fee schedule or pricing page link, printed directly in our comparison articles so readers can verify every figure.
  • Regional availability — which client jurisdictions the broker accepts (for example, US-only retail brokers vs. multi-jurisdiction brokers serving international clients).
  • Schedule notes — the fine print that does not fit a single number: clearing pass-throughs, minimum order fees, platform bundles, and separate international entity schedules.

How We Verify

  1. Primary sources only. Fee figures are taken directly from each broker’s official pricing page — never from third-party review sites or aggregators, which are frequently outdated. Where two official pages conflict (for example, when one broker’s marketing comparison table misstates a competitor’s product offering), we rely on the subject broker’s own documentation.
  2. Dated stamps on every table. Whenever a fee schedule is verified, the verification date is recorded and printed above the comparison table alongside direct links to the official sources.
  3. Rolling re-verification. Fee schedules are re-checked on a recurring basis and whenever a broker revises its pricing.
  4. What verification covers — and what it does not. We verify published commissions, fee tiers, margin rules, and documented platform features. We do not claim to maintain funded live accounts at every broker covered; where a comparison evaluates platform workflows, it reflects documented features and published specifications rather than unverified personal anecdotes. Promotional sign-up offers and custom negotiated rates are noted separately or excluded from baseline math.

How We Compare

  • Identical scenarios across brokers. Comparisons run the same concrete trade profiles through each broker’s verified schedule — for example, 10, 50, or 200 option contracts per month across different order clip sizes, or 1 vs. 20 futures round trips per month.
  • Broker commissions vs. pass-through fees. Exchange, clearing, OCC, NFA, and regulatory fees apply across all brokers at roughly comparable pass-through rates. Our tables isolate the broker commission — where platforms actually differ — and state explicitly when a broker bundles or separates clearing fees.
  • Use-case verdicts, not one-size-fits-all scores. The cheapest broker for a 50-lot multi-leg options trader is rarely the best choice for an international futures trader or a beginner wanting paper trading. We state which broker wins each specific scenario and why.

Rankings and “Best” Labels

“Best” on this site means lowest verified cost or strongest documented fit for a stated trading profile — never a guarantee that a broker is right for your personal financial situation. We do not sell placements in tables or roundups, and affiliate status has zero weight in our calculations.
